This beautiful handmade Mashru silk jacket comes from Priyanka Chopra, an Image Mission volunteer, and was created by her slow-fashion label, Ritu Priyanka, which she built and ran until 2021.
Handwoven in Patan and Kutch, Gujarat, Mashru silk has been crafted for centuries, with silk on the outside and cotton against the skin.
Each piece Priyanka created was handmade with master artisans and weavers, helping sustain generations-old craftsmanship and the livelihoods behind it.
Building the brand taught Priyanka to back herself and believe that what we create can serve something bigger than ourselves.
By contributing this piece from her journey, she hopes to give another woman confidence and remind her that even what we wear can be part of something bigger.
